Audi, duh. So I really need to stop reposting Jalopnik articles, but they’re on a roll these past couple days.

Not only is Jalopnik currently all Audi-fied as the best automaker in the world pulled out Q5 ads on the best automotive site in the world, but they released a story about some billboard rivalry between Audi and BMW. Apparently, Audi had a billboard for the all-new drop-dead gorgeous A4 with the caption, “Your move, BMW“, and the Santa Monica BMW dealer quickly put up a billboard of their own for the M3 dwarfing Audi’s, and with the witty comeback of “Checkmate.”

So Jalopnik being Jalopnik, the question of the day was what Audi would post as a response, and the best are featured here. My faves?

This competition is amusing and all, but it has a vengeful touch for me. When I was at the last Canadian Autoshow, I had a little chat with a BMW salesman about the gorgeous M3 sedan. All was going well until he quipped (out of nowhere), “Yes, the only reason why the S4 was selling so well was because we didn’t have a four-door M3. Now that we’ve got it, Audi is pretty much dead.” Boy, did I have colourful words for him in my head.

I know it’s his job, but he didn’t really know what he was talking about, and dug himself a huge whole. Which has more interior space, trunk space, better AWD technology, fuel efficiency, and classic swagger? The one with the intimidating stare-down, of course, not the other one with the Banglelized face. Oh, and by the way, BMW really lost that billboard war when they pushed an M3 against an A4. That’s like losing a sword fight, so you pull out a gun. How unclassy.
